Leeny Elango has a total of 18 years of both in academia and information technology enabled services. She worked with Scope International and Barclays Bank as operations team leader.
Later, she pursued academics which opened her foray towards the LGBTQI community. She has been part of the National conference for the Transgender Rights Bill 2016, New Delhi and also participated in the Intersex Rights Bill 2018 initiated at Bangkok, Thailand. She initiated the placements of transgender people into corporates and helped them achieve this self-employment goals when she was with, We Are Your Voice, a non-profit organization which works for persons with disabilities.
She also worked at DELC (Differently abled Employment and Livelihood Center) in Chennai, which is an organization within the State Commissionerate for Differently Abled, Chennai, Government of Tamil Nadu, as an impact research analyst for employment of Persons with Disabilities (PwD) into the small, medium and large sector companies.
Leeny completed her doctorate at Stella Maris College, Chennai. Her research was both based on Literature and Gender Studies, as it was on Transgender communities and their life story. Apart from this, she is a published writer and a professional translator. She has also done subtitling for documentary and feature films.
